im more of an fps computer guy but there was this one fps where you had hand to hand combat was the f.e.a.r series.
it was incredible.
aside from using alot of guns, the martial arts was a nice touch up.

maybe you should change your username to fpsdude then
Dynasty Warriors 4 was pretty fun when I was into it. Play a retardedly overpowered japanese gay fighting entire armies almost entirely by yourself and kill a vast majority of the people in this game by hitting them once. It gets to the point where people are just fucking obstacles to the real fights.
Ahh yes, those games are always fun. Though, they're Hack 'n' Slash, not Beat 'em Up.
well i don really know the difference between beatem up and hacknslash but i'd have to go with
1. teenage mutant ninja turtles: turtles in time
2. the satisfaction of pizza time
3. the characters actually played differently for all being melee and the bosses and levels all had unique characteristics and mechanics
streets of rage 2.
I guess I like the funk/electronic 90s beats
The enemies are a bunch o fun, conceptually. you fight guys on bikes and jugglers
the environments are really creative and beat the shit out of most other beat-em-up's generic bland-ass art.
I like bein able to pick up weapons and punch props
I like co-op
also Two Crude Dudes
you can pick up ANYTHING AND THROW IT, its so fucking nuts
and Dead Rising for the same reason
Double Dragon II
kicking somones ass never felt so good before.
Youre basically god at the game, but you dont know it until you figure out how to use all your moves properly X)
I'd fill it in but that would be breaking the rules.
1. I'd have to think about it, but I liked Madworld a lot.
2. World of Goo
3. The concept is addicting and fun, the art style is refreshingly original, and it has some of the most amazing music I've ever heard in a video game. And it's only $15.
all mortal kombat except the GAY dc one. why? because without the mortal kombat games there wouldnt be many bloody games because they showed the world that blood makes a better game. my xbox live gamertag also comes from it ^-^
Tekken 6. And some game on Facebook called KingOfKungFu.
I'm supposed to be making a document on a game that I made up too..
Pretty much a tonned down Beat 'em up... with Rock Paper Scissors instead of actual fighting.
It sounds crap, I know. xD
mortal kombat shaolin monks i love it because its bloody nice story has easter eggs and me and a friend can share such lovely gore it's amazing i love it :D
Wow, ignore my comment, I didn't read the second and third question correctly.
2. The unrealisticly violent gameplay is a lot of fun and really cinematic. I also like how the game's art style and aspects resemble a comic book. Plus it's funny as hell.
3. Most other beat 'em ups can get repetitive if they aren't executed correctly. The fact that Madworld is context sensitive allows it to stay fresh with new moves even though the button/motion action is the same.
Viewtiful Joe, no question.
Slick and quirky visuals, unique gameplay and moves, challenging and memorable bosses, awesome voice acting.
castle crashers
1. Super Smash Bros. Brawl
2. I like it mainly because of the character roster and the amount of levels you can play on. Not to mention some pretty sweet music. The actual gameplay is nothing innovative but it's still fun to play as one of your favourite characters and beat the crap out of one another.
3. Again, the game is nothing innovative from any other beat em up, it's just fun to play as your favourite nintendo character and fight! But I do like the ability to just pause and take snapshots rather than fly around in "camera mode vs" like melee had done it.
Opinion subject to change but at this particular moment...
1. Guardian Heroes on the Saturn
2. It was just so frantic and crazy... It felt great to beat dudes up and it was fun to level up and see the results. There was a dead knight who would fight with you and sometimes he would just go nuclear and it was wild.
3. It played like Street Fighter as a brawler. Rather than walk up and down you jumped between layers in the foreground and background.
The jumping between layers seems to be a great concept for a game.
Sadly I never played the game or heard of it. I don't own a Saturn either, never had one. I might try to get this game via emulator. Sounds like great fun.
1- The Simpsons arcade
2- I liked the 4 player aspect of it and being able to team up temporarily. I am disappointed more games didnt take advantage of that. I also liked how its fairly true to the cartoon. You recognize most of the characters and even those that you dont, you can picture as belonging there.
3- I like the litle button masher bonus game blowing up the giant balloon. I saw that castle crashers brought that back and i was pleased. It's such a nice little break from the game.
Ahh yes, the simpsons arcade game. I've heard so much about it but never played it myself. I might get the MAME rom for that now actually. We don't really have any arcades where I live (north of Germany).
i used to love the original tekken games they have kinda gone down hill since number three though D:
The Simpsons Arcade and SNES Turtles in Time. Why? They must be the most awesome ones I've ever seen in my whole fucking life. Every character has their own attacks, some good story line, comedy and really fun to play with others, specially at the Simpsons one, 4P at same time. Playing with your favorite characters made them special too.
